Baby Journal: New ... Muscle Pain

Baby Journal: New ... Muscle Pain

Week 26

The last period was much defined as being in the creation mode because I had practically to run the last 100 yards before the master’s finish line (I’m still having about 20 yards left until next week to the final deadline). So all my creative energy has been directed towards academic writing, without much left for writing the blog (even the relaxing evening reading has been put on a side).

However, this morning I woke up earlier than usual (6:30 is an early hour for pregnant women), with a crystalline mind, eager to share my experiences, but also with some new muscle pain. Since we found out about the pregnancy, we have an mobile application (The baby app) that gives us the exact number of weeks and days, as well as some information about the beabis’ development stage, how I should feel and what Philippe should do in order to tame the kinder surprise dragon. We usually read this information on Mondays, when we enter in the next week of pregnancy.

This Monday we read the story, which said something that didn’t quite fit with my current state (you know, like a horoscope that you don’t agree with the starts so you are eager to say that this is exactly the opposite to what happens to you in reality). What was written there was related to the fact that starting this week, it is possible to feel some pain in the calves and soles, which is absolutely normal at this stage.

I was so excited that this information was not relevant because I assumed that our new routine to go for a walk at a slightly alert pace, implemented since working intensely for my master’s thesis (even 5 hours a day, wup, wup!), for almost 3 weeks, have had an effect. The initial goal was to walk about 5000 steps per day (it probably translates to about 4 kilometres), which I noticed afterwards that we are overcoming, walking about 8000 steps, so jumping over the 30 minutes that the Fitbit recognises as being active.

We usually walked through the neighbourhood, and soon we discovered a slightly longer route that passes the hospital, which became a reason to start making small jokes about, like the fact that I will need to remember this route for that moment when the baby will want to come out so I need to walk to the hospital, or Philippe needs to remember it to bike there with me, in the basket (but I warned him that the hills towards the hospital are quite steep).

Even with this whole movement of which I’m very proud, still the “stars” don’t lie. However, I must thank the calves pain for inspiring me to write something in the beabis’ journal, and I’m also grateful to Philippe which tames the kinder surprise dragon by the books, with a little massage, that is … hmmm… extremely awaited!
